Oak pool house with a modern touch, Meulebeke
Designed by Stef Claes, this oak outbuilding with a modern touch is a joy to behold. The entire structure is constructed in oak, including the roofing. Interior and exterior walls combine oak with bluestone, with the colour of the high stone skirting contrasting beautifully with the wood to give the pool house even more character.
Large glass panels give the oak pool house an uncluttered aspect. They can be fully opened, but even when they are closed the interior space and the long table are bathed in light. The glass panels also allow a beautiful view of the garden and pool. On chilly days, a fireplace brings extra warmth and atmosphere. This is a unique space in which to hold a meeting or gather with friends and family.
The rear of the pool house features a horizontal panel of windows along the entire length, just under the highest point of the roof. These bring natural light into the storage space behind the fireplace. They are also fitted with wooden shutters with moveable louvers, which can be adjusted to admit precisely the desired amount of light. The garden wall is also constructed in oak and bluestone, pulling the entire area together and providing plenty of privacy and protection around the pool.
