Modern gate in black charred wood, Sint-Martens-Latem
This modern swinging gate features an underground automation system. Constructed in HOTwood ash, it was finished in our own workshop using the traditional Shou Sugi Ban charring technique, resulting in a low-maintenance charred surface with a matte black colour that will develop a beautiful patina over time. The same vertical S3 cladding profile, also in charred thermal ash, was chosen for the square posts on either side of the double gate.
We designed this double gate in collaboration with landscape and garden architect Stijn Verhalle (Exterior) in line with the specific wishes of the client. The wooden gate is streamlined and tasteful, offering a harmonious complement to the verdant surroundings. More practically, it serves as an entryway to the house and safeguards the security of the residents. Technical elements provide extra ease of use while remaining discretely out of sight. Even the letterbox has been attractively integrated into the gate.
