Luxurious modern pool house, Aartselaar
This gorgeous modern pool house brings the luxury of a holiday resort to the back garden. Alongside a beautiful lounge space and a low dining set by Piet Boon, the lovely wooden outbuilding also features a small kitchen area with a charcoal oven, a storage shed and a toilet. Architect and interior designer Lieselotte Crijns conceived this outbuilding as the ideal space in which to spend time with friends and family, enjoy leisurely meals and come together in comfort.
Minimalist glass panels with slim steel-look frames open out the space. They also ensure an unobstructed view from the house, straight through the pool house and across the entire garden. With the frames of the sliding doors sunk into the floor, the border between the indoor and outdoor spaces disappears. This effect is reinforced by the wooden exterior cladding that continues into the interior.
The timber cladding used for the outbuilding is high-quality thermo ash. Left untreated, it will weather to an appealing natural grey tint over the years. To achieve the same uniform grey on the interior walls, the interior cladding was pre-weathered. The warmth of the wood combines beautifully with the contemporary concrete-look Mortex which has been applied to the walls, floor and worktop. This durable, waterproof material is an outstanding choice for a contemporary pool house: wet feet are no problem at all.
